What does Automix do? #
The Automix in DJ Studio will give you the best order of tracks so that the sounds of the songs will clash the least as possible.
DJ.Studio uses the principles of Harmonic Mixing and the Camelot wheel for that. The great thing is... you don't need to know any complex music theory, DJ.Studio does it for you and uses color coding to tell you the harmonic compatibility of each track,
Based on the key of the songs and the BPM, we calculate the order of the tracks which has the most harmonically sounding transitions as possible.
After auto mixing, you will always listen to each transition on the Studio tab to fine-tune them.
How to Automix#
1. Click the Automix button on the left of the middle bar in DJ.Studio to find the best harmonically optimized order of your tracks.
Lock first track: if you have already decided which track you want to start your mix with, make sure the track is the first song in your mix. Check this box to make sure Automix will start with this track.
Lock last track: if you have already decided which track you want to end your mix with, tell Automix to keep that track at the end.
Key sorting: Tell the automix algorithm if you value Key sorting or BPM sorting more. Is it more important that the tracks are sorted on BPM ( from slow to fast) or that you want your mix to be ordered in the best harmonically ordered way?
You can always try out Automix a few times to look at the result.
We advise to use the setting in the middle.On the Transitions you can configure more advanced automix settings how the tracks should overlap and what transition presets should be applied.
2. Click Finish
3. The Playlist tab will be opened where you can see the harmonically ordered playlist. Check the Match column to see how the tracks match.

Rule of Thumb: Green = good, yellow is OK.
Add other tracks to solve issues#
If you have a track with an X, you need to pay attention to make the transition sound good or add another track to solve this harmonic incompatibility.
Click on the X, to open the Solver. Our Solver will tell you which songs from your library you could add to this mix to solve your problem!
NOTE: You can also keep the X track in your mix, but when fine-tuning that specific transition, you must ensure the Volume and Mids are not clashing.
